  • V46095-01_1of2.zip, V46095-01_2of2.zip, V75792-01.zip

2. Database Preparation

2.1 Add Service for Patching

Add the ebs_patch service to the existing database service list:

sql
sqlplus '/as sysdba'

-- Check current service names
show parameter service

-- Add ebs_patch service
alter system set service_names='FBS,ebs_patch' scope=both;

-- Verify the change
show parameter service

2.2 Download and Run ETCC

Download Patch 17537119 and run the EBS Technology Codelevel Checker (ETCC):

bash
cd /u01/patches/etcc/
./checkDBpatch.sh contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE

Note: The ETCC will identify missing database patches. Apply the recommended patches before proceeding with the upgrade.

3. Staging Area Setup

3.1 Extract StartCD

Unzip the StartCD zip files to create the staging structure:

bash
unzip V100052-01_1of3.zip
unzip V100052-01_2of3.zip
unzip V100052-01_3of3.zip

Verify the StartCD version:

bash
cd startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/
./RapidWizVersion
# Should display: Version 12.2.0.51

3.2 Configure Unzip Utility

The StartCD provides a compatible version of unzip. Configure it as follows:

bash
mv /usr/bin/unzip /usr/bin/unzip_orig
ln -s /mnt/stage1220/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/unzip/Linux_x64/unzip /usr/bin/unzip
unzip -version

3.3 Build the Stage Area

Run the buildStage script to create the installation staging area:

bash
cd /mnt/stage1220/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/bin/
./buildStage.sh

During the build process:

  • Press Enter through the welcome screens

  • Select Option 1 (Create new stage area)

  • Select Option 2 (Linux x86 64-bit)

  • Enter the directory containing the zip files: /mnt/stage1220

3.4 Patch the Stage Area

Download Patch 32947483 and apply it to the staging area:

bash
unzip p32947483_R12_GENERIC.zip
cd 32947483
./patchRIStage.sh

When prompted, enter the Rapid Install Stage area path: /mnt/stage1220

Set appropriate permissions:

bash
chmod -R 777 /mnt/stage1220/software

3.5 Copy Additional Patches

Use the Build Stage Menu to copy additional patches:

bash
cd /mnt/stage1220/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/bin/
./buildStage.sh

Menu Selections:

  1. Select Option 2: Copy patches to existing stage area

  2. Select Option 2: Linux x86 (64-bit)

3.6 Linux 8 Compatibility Workaround

If running on Linux 8, apply this workaround for Oracle HTTP Server compatibility:

bash
cd /u01/stage1220/TechInstallMedia/ohs11119/Disk3/stage/Components/oracle.buildtools.rsf/11.1.0.7.0/1/DataFiles/

# Extract and replace libc.so.6
jar xvf filegroup4.jar
cd lib/stubs
mv libc.so.6 libc.so.6.safe
cp -p /lib64/libc.so.6 .
cd -

# Recreate the JAR file
mv filegroup4.jar filegroup4.jar.safe
jar cvf filegroup4.jar lib

end;
/

Issue 2: Missing xdb_migrateschema Package

sql
-- Check if package exists
select owner, object_name from dba_objects
where object_name like upper('xdb_migrateschema');

-- If missing, create it
conn / as sysdba
@?/rdbms/admin/dbmsxdbschmig.sql
@?/rdbms/admin/prvtxdbschmig.plb

Issue 3: Invalid AD_ZD_PREP Package

sql
-- Recompile the package
alter package apps.AD_ZD_PREP compile body;

-- After compilation, continue with upgrade
adctrl -- to restart failed worker

7.8 Monitor Enablement Progress

Monitor DDL execution status:

sql
sqlplus apps @$AD_TOP/sql/ADZDSHOWDDLS.sql

The report should show all phases completed with:

  • "Successfully Executed" count

  • "Not Executed" count: 0

  • "Failed Execution" count: 0

7.9 Post-Enablement Validation

sqlplus system @$AD_TOP/sql/ADZDPMAN.sql
mv adzdpman.txt adzdpman_post_dbprep.txt

sqlplus system @$AD_TOP/sql/ADZDPAUT.sql
mv adzdpaut.txt adzdpaut_post_dbprep.txt

7.10 Database Compliance Checker

Run the compliance checker to verify coding standards:

bash
sqlplus apps @$AD_TOP/sql/ADZDDBCC.sql

Configure Required Parameters:

sql
-- Disable recyclebin
ALTER SYSTEM SET recyclebin = OFF SCOPE = spfile;

-- Enable system triggers
ALTER SYSTEM SET "_system_trig_enabled" = TRUE SCOPE = both;

7.11 Compile Invalid Objects

sql
sqlplus apps/apps
exec sys.utl_recomp.recomp_parallel
